I know...it's March already. 60 0dd days in and this is my first blog post...I have been busy since October of last year renovating our bathroom and the time has been well spent...now I look forward to connecting with the world via the inter-webs and the Gooogles to find out if there are enough good people left in this country to at least not flush what dignity we have left down the tubes.
One New Years Resolution that has stuck is that we no longer watch news in the mornings. I have some Sub-stacks I rely on to tell me what I need to know...the rest is research. Over stimulation is a real problem especially when I carry an over-stimulation machine around with me all day. It takes a great deal of discipline to tear myself away from its eerie glowing screen. It knows what I crave and it feeds me 24/7/365...if I let it. Fortunately I did not grow up with the thing growing out of my arm as many of the younger generations have. So it is clear to me how easily ensnared they have all become.
Evil is working overtime. Evil is suddenly subjective. Putin is threatening to drop an A bomb if he does not get his way and we have a contender for the highest office in our land cheering him on...what have we become? My only friends..."everyone I know goes away in the end...and you can have it all...my empire of dirt..."
I Am No Bob Dylan
( or Joan Baez )
Or Bono or
Robert plant or Robert Frost
For that matter
I have no Jack Kerouac
patter
Or Mick Jagger Swagger
I have no boozy Bukowski
street cred
or Tom Waits gravitas
No Leonard Cohen
or Joni Mitchell
Canadian Super Soul
I am no James Baldwin philosopher
Or even a meager interpreter
of Pete Seeger
(Don’t get me started on Marquez, Walcott, or Angelou)
I ain’t no Bruce Springsteen
wanna-be
Nor may I communicate my
relationship with Nature like a
Thoreau or Mary Oliver
But I adore them all so
With Admiration and gratitude
for their hard work and
inspiration
For their kindness
which has led to kindness
And love
which has led to
Love
And I am certainly no
John Lennon
But I believe, as he did, that
Love
Is
The answer
Abra la puerta
Sierra la ventana
Silencio
Silencio
Shhhh
Calla te
calla te
Fácil
te amo
Ahora
